MORBIDLY OBESE man FALLS THROUGH 3 STORIES of his apartment building…

Denver, CO (NNC) - It was no secret that 35 year old Mark Falwell had a weight problem. Weighing just below 800 pounds, he stood out just about everywhere he went and served as a textbook definition of morbid obesity. But despite the glaring size of Falwell, nobody could have anticipated how his weight would have affected the events that transpired early yesterday morning when Falwell actually fell through his apartment floor before crashing through the two stories below him and finally ending up on the ground floor.

According to the residents that resided below Falwell, they always feared that one day something of the sort might happen but never actually expected or believed that it would.

“Every time he moved we’d hear these horrible crackling noises as if the floorboards were about to snap. I never really thought that one day they actually would… but they did!” said Margaret Pearson, the downstairs neighbor to Mark.

Mrs. Pearson was fortunate enough to be taking a bath when the floors collapsed. “I remember hearing this extremely loud crash and I thought that a bomb had gone off.” Margaret quickly jumped out from the tub and raced to see what had happened. But when she got to her living room, she was shocked to see that there was a 12 foot hole puncturing three floors of the apartment building. Laying on the ground floor above a heap of wreckage was Mark Falwell who survived the fall but with serious injuries. Nobody else was injured in the accident but immense damage was done to the building.

When architect John Berliner was asked to identify the source of the problem, he simply responded by saying:

“Pure strain. Plain and simple, the apartment building wasn’t equipped to handle that kind of weight. It’s an old building and after a while, it just gave up and collapsed.”

As of yet, Mark Falwell has refused to seek litigation. Instead, he has worked out a private arrangement with the landlord to terminate his existing lease and transfer to a ground floor apartment.
