Back the revolution…

How could we tell if we are living in the golden age or not? How do we know that life behind the borders of the U.S. and A represent the homebase in the universal game of touch-tag? You reach our soil, you sigh a huge chunk of relief and yell “Not it!” and watch the losers back off and groan in defeat.

We settle down inside our borders, we build homes, families and careers. Then we continue to “settle” down. Slowly, paycheck by paycheck disppears into the “Economy.”

Then we must buy my dinner - a hamburger bun made from only the highest of quality wheat, lightly toasted to perfection. It’s smothered with golden mustart seed sauce sauce and thick tomato ketchup. The onion is only a preliminary cushion for the secondary, but equally important, lettuce. The meat is placed last, as if being saved as the best. The sizzling sound of meat reminds me of a spoon full of heroin being prepped for takeoff. It makes me wish I was the astronaut.

As I eat the Big Mac, I wonder what’s going to happen tonight on our first night off from shooting junk for over 6 years straight. If history repeats itself - it’s gonna be something really, really, bad.

As he finalizes the cell phone plan with his kids in the newly opened Sprint megastore in the newly opened Clearfield Megamall - complete with 4 stories - Jeb thinks to himself “I hope they don’t learn about texting,” instead of actually mentioning his disapproval to the kids personally. “What happened to just being happy with a Playstation? They don’t know how good they’ve got it.” But he lazily sweeps the thought away and swipes his gold card, drives to Staples, buys a desk chair, goes home and then falls asleep in the fancy new leather chair while doing work while the kids watch Sunday specials on TV.

“I’ll wake him up in a few,” Naomi says. She’s in her 20’s and obviosuly related to the wonam on the phone. “My show will be over by 6, perfect time for him to wake up.”

“Just d0n’t forget Ben this time-”

[From Naoimi’s offscreen manager] “Please, Nomi, we’re busy. Hurry up-”

But before her manager can finish she apologizes, hangs up and serves a family of 6 their breakfast.

When waiting in the back kitchen for a minute, her friend Carol approaches her and says “The most important thing in the world is finding a babysitter. It changes lives,”

No not the astronaut - I know what it’s like flying that shit. It always crashes back down to earth and leaves someone else dead or dying. It’s the test GOD made - to find his generals. to find who is strong enough to resist the the glimpse of heaven - in order to fight back down here in hell.

But once his brief episode passed, leaving him panting on the side of the street, he was no longer sure whether these revelations were being caused by the withdrawal or by some truth.

David had no way of knowing either way and so he realized that his best option was to divert his attention for as long as possible in the hopes of finding a trail and tracking it down.

Nancy drove her car into a house after she passed out driving home from work at 3 in the morning. When she was brought to the hospital, her damage was compounded when she was denied care and her morale was fractured irreperably.

But her husband already had enough painkillers for the two of them - just not enough for him.

And their son is in college but already has done enough great fun to wish he had never been born and is already off to a great start with a greedy, confused, dehumanizing career in forgetting the meaning of life.

However, life is good in theory. DVD players have never been cheaper. Life has never been so pretty, meaningless and overrated. Kind of like gold.

So maybe we are living in the golden age, but that’s all we’re living in - the golden age. And nothing more.
