(TCN) - Where do you go after acquiring the biggest online video website in the world? Well, there might be varying opinions but Google has decided to take the controversial step into pornography with it’s YouTube spin-off website - BoobTube.

Pornography has been one of the most prolific and profitable online industries for some time, but Google has refrained from entering the market for fear of its family-friendly reputation being damaged. But industry analysts have noted that Google has long since shed its conscience in favor of a more profitable philosophy - unhinged expansion.

The move was announced this morning at a Microsoft seminar in Manhattan, but the decision has been long in the planning according to Lynn Winston, Google’s head of public relations.

“We really believe that the time is ripe to make the leap into pornography,” said Ms. Winston. “Streaming video has taken the world by storm and so the logical step was to bring that innovation to pornography in order to bring free, convenient and quality porn to every man, woman and child over the age of 18.”

But this “Asses-4-the-Masses” attitude, as coined by some online bloggers, has offended quite a few religious fundamentalists.

Barbara Homer, an active member of the public advocacy group “Not My Child,” which aims to shield children from porn, said “Of course this is terrible. We’ve called a meeting just to discuss this one topic. This is porn for the masses and it will infiltrate every home in the country.”

But Ms. Winston assures people like Barbara that Google is doing everything in its power to keep BoobTube adult-only.

“There will be a full disclaimer that makes sure the user checks that they’re above 18,” said Winston. “Child safety is one our top priorities.” She paused before continuing by saying with a smile: “Right up there with profit.”
