Ron Paul is retarded
(NNC) - Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has long captured the attention of voters calling for radical reform and lately he has been found immensely popular amongst the entire internet community. But his popularity online is marred by the opposition he faces in reality - that being the opinion of many that Ron Paul is “literally retarded.”
“Ron Paul is retarded, or ‘mentally handicapped,’ in more ways than one,” said Jason Fremont, director of Political Affairs for the University of South Carolina. “But it is inspiring to see someone so retarded running for president.”
Though Mr. Fremont’s accusation appears to be sarcastic, he insists that he has no ulterior motive and that he is entirely serious, saying “It’s not that I have anything against him. It’s just that he’s retarded. His intelligence quotient is far below that of an average man.”
Fremont isn’t alone in the belief that Ron Paul is literally “mentally retarded,” as his opinion is shared by several politicians, academics and bloggers.
One famous blog, The Dem Den, critiqued Ron Paul by scrutinyzing the Republican candidate’s campaign website:
It is clear that we are dealing here with a man that has simply made it this far based on luck, personality and a few advantages he’s received by being handicapped. For instance, look at the front page of his website:
“We have the three ingredients for success:
1. The message: freedom, peace and prosperity.
2. The man: Ron Paul.
3. You.
Our campaign has begun.”
This is obviously a campaign to appeal to like-minded individuals - that being idiots.
Though The Dem Den has written repeatedly on the topic, the truth is that Ron Paul continues to gain support online and is being considered somewhat of a phenomenon.
When asked about Ron Paul’s success online, Mr. Fremont simply responded: “The question answers itself - he’s popular online. Find me one other group of people that is dumber than the average internet user, and I’ll find you the cure for AIDS.”

How can anyone who has made it through Duke University’s prestigious medical school be “retarded”? Dr. Paul is easily one of the most intelligent people I’ve seen in politics.

When in doubt, play the “Retard Card”. Yeah, that one will really stick to a guy with a full-blown M.D. degree from a REAL university, and years of medical experience, plus almost 20 years in Congress.
This statement only makes sense coming from a true elitist who is so caught up in his own positions on issues that he actually believes that anyone who disagrees must be stupid. I sure would be interested to have a full disclosure of Mr. Fremont’s party affiliation and an archive of his statements to discover if maybe there isn’t a bit of bias in his assessment.
Maybe he believes the Doctor is insane, and should be subjected to “political rehabhilitation” in a nice, state controlled, “mental facility”. That one sure sounds like the good old Soviet Union.
If there’s a “retard” here, it certainly is not Dr. Paul. It is Mr. Fremont. Why not “Dr. Fremont?” Couldn’t hack the rigorous intellectual study and medical training maybe?
Finally, I’d say one essence of genius in the political realm is to make the message short, succinct, and simple enough to be understood easily. It’s easy to be complex, and really hard to apply the good old KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid).
With opposition like this, a victory for Paul is practically guaranteed.

the man is retarded, his beliefs that we caused WWII because we intervened in WWI late in the game, that we could have avoided the civil war by buying all the slaves after the south had seceded, this is a seriously demented man, no matter how constitutionally strict he is. He has no place in politics when he doesn’t understand basic history of our country and our struggles.

I just got home from an amazing run in the gorgeouts sunshine outside on a chillaxious Friday and I was once again reminded of how beautiful and easy our lives are.
We spend so much time complaining and bickering about basically non-existent problems and sometimes we forget how awesome it is to be here. Sure, tragedies do exist (check out the drunk driving thread for some sad examples), but generally life is easy. If those young adults who were killed by drunk drivers were able to speak from the grave, the first thing they’d say is that life is short, so enjoy it. They really are proof of how short it can be.
Some personal examples of my life being beautifuzl:
-Just spend a week in Canmore helping paint my friend’s million dollar home, while mountain biking, drinking, and getting free room and board. And I even got paid for it!
-Lost my wallet three times so far. Everytime it has been returned. One time I lost it in Edmonton with $70 cash inside, and when it was returned the cash was still in it! (minor miracle, especially in Edmonton!)
-Lost my passport in NZ while on a crazy adventurce. Got my new passport in the mail the day before my flight back to Canada!
-The economy is finally starting to turn around. So far this week I’ve saved about $200 in travel expenses thanks to the rising Canadian dollar!
-Going to Spain in September for $116 thanks to cmyden and his amazinog travel deal!
-And we can all agree that the Flames getting Bouwmeester for nothing is something we as a group can celebrate! 1sam6u
