(NNC) - Shortly after last weeks debacle regarding Miss Teen South Carolina, NBC has already announced its plans to host a Miss Teen competition that appeals to mentally handicap and disabled teenagers in order to give them a chance to win the crown.

The show will be titled My Miss Special and will feature a wide variety of contestants with various mental handicaps - from attention deficit disorder to crippling mental retardation.

Though an NBC spokesman claims that the questions and personality tests will be “dumbed down” some, he says the contest will still try to judge the contestants based on their inner and outer beauty.

“This is still a beauty contest and the winner will have to be beautiful inside and out,” said Ben Markowitz, head of public relations for NBC studios. “However, we’re still on the fence about whether there will be a seperate contest for down syndrome teens, due to their unique appearance.”

According to NBC, the show will begin filming this Fall.
