Owen Wilson says suicide attempt was to “relive The Royal Tenenbaums”…

Owen Wilson in ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’
(CNC) - After being hospitalized just last Sunday for an attempted suicide, Owen Wilson claims that he had been trying to “relive the greatness of [the film] The Royal Tenenbaums,” in an effort to “bring the movie to life.”
“That movie was just so great, and well I always wanted Luke’s part so the whole suicide thing was kind of just for nostalgia’s sake… I didn’t really want to kill myself,” Owen said earlier today.
In Wes Anderson’s critically acclaimed feature film The Royal Tenenbaums, one of the main characters - played by Owen Wilson’s brother Luke Wilson - attempts suicide by cutting his wrists. The character is then rushed to a hospital where he survives the trauma. This is the exact same course of events that transpired Sunday when Owen was found bleeding from his wrists in his San Antonio home.
“I’m really sorry I scared so many people, but it was never my attention to do that. I just wanted to mirror the movie and I don’t have any adopted sisters or anything. I suppose I could have gotten addicted to drugs but I already did that [in the movie].” Owen’s character in the film was addicted to mescaline.
Wes Anderson’s latest movie, The Dharjeeling Limited, stars Owen Wilson and is do out this winter.
