Boy, 17, strangles little sister - blames Bioshock

Jst another example of how little brats are blaming videogames for the crimes that their dumbasses committed. Taken from KCTV:

(KCTV) - Troubled teenager Sean Conner is on trial in Kansas for attempting to strangle his younger sister, Britney. However, in his defense plea, he mentioned the controversial videogame Bioshock (Xbox 360) as having influenced his criminal act.

“I get really into my games and when Brit’ came over to me to watch TV I forgot I was in a game and accidentally strangled her,” Sean Conner told KCTV yesterday.

The game Bioshock uses a science-fiction setting to create scenarios that require you to actually kill little girls for power ups. The game has already come under fire for its violence and this case doesn’t do much towards helping the game’s cause.

KCTV approached the parents outside of their Wichita home and questioned them about whether Sean had played the videogame and if they think it influenced his behavior.

“Yes I do believe Bioshock influenced his behavior,” she told us. “And it wasn’t my fault because he’s old enough to buy these games.”

In fact, Sean was old enough according to the standards set by the ESRB which has prompted many politicians leading the fight against games to question the effectiveness of a 17+ age group for players buying M-rated games.

Attorney Jack Thompson has released a harsh statement saying “Justice will be served to the bastards that caused this crime.”

2KGames declined to comment.

  1. Oh please, teaching your child the difference between play and reality is a parents job. Blaming Tv, Games, Magazines, “Rock” Music etc is just passing the buck. If the kids disturbed anything might set him off. Carebears, Marshmallows, Cloud Formations…

  2. I know Carebears really make ME anxious… But generally, I just get mad at rainbows and butterflies, and they’re such a bitch to catch.

We live in a society where no one is responsible or accountable for their own actions or words. It’s always someone or something else that is to blame.

This is why I’m working to raise an adult instead of trying to raise a child.

  3. He’s 17 and he’s looking for a scapegoat. I can’t fathom how someone could ‘accidentally strangle’ someone, aside from the fact that you don’t strange the little sisters in the game! I like how his mom was so concerned about getting the blame off her. And of course Thompson is right there to chase the ambulance.

  4. uhh this is fake , is this another sony hit job kinda thing?

  5. does it make you feel like a big man when you make up news stories?

heh well i wish sonyd go back to paid tv ‘alerts’ insted of ruining every blog anmd message board on the internet with fake-ass ‘fans’ who work for their smear marketing agencies , f**ck FONY

  7. Just to clarify a BIG misconception in the article:

you are NOT REQUIRED to kill the little sisters in Bioshock. Choosing to kill them or not is the game’s main moral dillemas (and of course, it’s most controversial subject)

  8. I agree this guy is a jerk

  9. Dude, don’t be an ass-tunnel. And I agree with the folks at Destructoid. Be funnier next time. You’ve been debunked.

  11. I once saw a movie called Dr. Strangelove. Now I find myself wanting to nuke the whole world. It’s not my fault.

Geeze, imaging how screwed up these kids would be if they heard about Gitmo. Oh wait, they have.
