SAN DIEGO, CA - A new email virus has been making the rounds since late Sunday evening, containing deceptive messages that have fooled millions of internet users into clicking on dangerous links contained within the email.

One of the more commonly reported messages being used imitates, of all people, President George Bush calling on the recipient for a “top secret mission concerning national security.” Contained at the bottom of the message is a link for free ringtones that actually installs keyloggers and other harmful software into the user’s computer.

Another one of the messages claims to be from Hollywood moviestar Brad Pitt, saying “There’s this new role that opened up in my latest movie and I was given your name from a friend who said you’d be perfect. Enter your phone number and click the link below for some free ringtones.”

It is reported that close to 10 million computers have clicked on the links provided in the emails and the FBI is currently trying to track down the culprits.

The new trend seems to take advantage of the latest habit of internet users to click on anything related to ringtones, despite the danger it may sometime pose.

And though the FBI has been working on discovering and stopping the messages, many of their computers have been infected themselves, making it more difficult to consider leads.

To take precautions, an FBI spokesman said they have posted signs in the Pentagon telling workers not to click on suspicious links.

So far there has been no siginificant damage caused by the virus.
