Epidemic of toy company CEO suicides sweep the world… 6 more this week

Posted in: DETALES, Bizarre, World News

(NCN) - In what has apparently been triggered by last weeks suicide by a disgraced Chinese CEO, 6 more CEOs from various foreign toy manufacturing companies have killed themselves.

The first such suicide occurred after a toy recall was issued upon discovering that lead-based paint was used in the coating for the Chinese-made toys. The CEO involved in the manufacturing hung himself in a company warehouse. This is the most widely covered of the suicides, but an eery trend has started to frighten the entire toy manufacturing world.

Two days after the first suicide, a CEO for Maki Toy Manufacturing Inc. in Taiwan jumped from the 21st floor of his corporate headquarters. Another suicide occurred in Mexico by two CEO’s of the manufacturing company Very Best Toy Co., each of whom drank water laced with cyanide.

As of now, there has been no connection established linking the suicides. However, authorities believe that the suicides are only connected psychologically.

“After the first suicide, it kind of opens a door,” said Dr. Charles Bradford, a criminal psychologist who works close with suicide cases. “There’s something that just kind of triggers something in these CEOs and they go ‘Oh why didn’t I think of that.’”

According to Dr. Bradford, this trend is not uncommon amongst the industrialized world and often one known suicide will be followed by several unknown suicides.

Dr. Bradford explains saying, “There’s something about owning sweatshops, and in this case toy manufacturing companies, that eventually catches up with the people running it and they often resort to killing themselves. This is nothing new.”

According to studies, suicide as a cause of death is possibly as high as 12% for CEO’s of major corporations.

However, this number may be disputed because of speculation that many of the suicides are actually murders.
